Sow Studio is a London-based embroidery studio specialising in both digital and hand embroidery. We work across art, interiors, fashion, events and creative collaborations, offering everything from initial design development and sampling through to one-off artworks and larger production runs.

We work on a wide range of projects, from embroidered artworks, interior pieces and large-scale textile panels to garments, accessories, installations and production runs.

Absolutely. You don’t need to come to us with embroidery-ready artwork.

We can work with anything from an initial idea, photograph, painting or sketch through to fully developed artwork. Depending on the project, we can help develop the design, explore embroidery techniques and create samples before moving into production.

Yes. Sampling is an important part of our process, particularly for bespoke or technically complex projects.

We can test different threads, fabrics, colours, scales and embroidery techniques before agreeing on the final production method.

Once a sample has been approved, we can then move into production.

Every project is quoted individually based on the scope of work involved. Pricing can include design development, digitising, sampling, materials, embroidery time, finishing and production.

For bespoke projects, we usually work to a studio day rate (£320+VAT), with additional costs for materials and any specialist processes required. Production runs are priced according to factors such as quantity, stitch count, size and complexity.

Once we’ve reviewed your project, we’ll provide a clear quotation before any work begins.

Yes. Our work combines both traditional hand embroidery and contemporary digital embroidery.

Some projects are entirely machine embroidered or hand embroidered, while others combine the two. We can recommend the most suitable process depending on the look, scale, budget and quantity required.

Yes. We can develop embroidery for large textile panels, wall hangings, furniture, installations and other interior applications.

Yes. Alongside one-off and bespoke pieces, we can produce multiples and larger embroidery runs.

Production pricing depends on factors including quantity, stitch count, embroidery time, materials, finishing and complexity. Larger quantities can often reduce the production cost per piece.

Not necessarily. We work on everything from individual bespoke pieces to larger production runs.

However, embroidery involves set-up, digitising and sampling, so very small quantities can have a higher cost per piece than larger runs.

Lead times vary depending on the scale and complexity of the project and our studio schedule.

A project involving design development and sampling will naturally require more time than repeat production from an already approved sample.

Yes. We work with clients internationally and can produce embroidery in our London studio for projects based both in the UK and overseas.

Shipping, customs and import requirements can vary depending on the destination and will be discussed as part of the project where relevant.

Yes. Alongside our studio practice, we run workshops covering areas including hand embroidery, mending and digital embroidery.

We can also develop bespoke workshops, demonstrations and creative sessions for brands, organisations, events and private groups.

Yes. We can develop live embroidery experiences, demonstrations and textile-based activations for events and brands.

These can be tailored to the event, audience and location, from live machine embroidery to hand embroidery and participatory workshops.

Studio visits are by appointment only.

For bespoke projects, work begins once the quotation has been approved and the required deposit has been received.

We require a 50% deposit before starting, with the remaining balance due before collection, dispatch or delivery.

Because our sampling, digitising and embroidered pieces are made specifically for each client, bespoke work cannot usually be cancelled or refunded once work has begun.
