Gathered is a collection of embroidered works by Sow Studio, developed using fabrics saved from past studio projects. Rather than sourcing new materials and threads, we returned to our archive of offcuts and remnants, allowing the materials available to influence each piece.
The motifs within the collection draw from oversized florals, reflections, shifting textures found in water and other natural forms.
Across the collection, we explore appliqué, layering, photostitch and cross stitch, combining traditional embroidery with contemporary techniques. Due to the limited nature of the original fabrics, many works exist only as one-off pieces or editions of two.
